Learning to let go…

I am a list person.  I love listing everything down and I even categorise and sub-categorise! When I was younger I used to want my whole life planned out in advance and spent hours imagining how I thought it should be.  Very left brain, I know!

And yet deep down I am a very creative soul and dreamt of letting my heart make the decisions instead of my mind, to be free and go with the flow.

I used to rush into things with rational logic, letting my brain make the decisions, and getting caught up in the why’s, how’s, and when’s.  Yet recently I have begun to learn a new practice: the art of letting go.

When we hold on to preconceived ideas of how things should be, and focus only on the end results, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment.  Things will never turn out exactly how we expect them to be – depending on our perception they may be worse or even better, but we cannot begin to fathom what will lead on from those experiences. You could even say that there are no bad experiences – just our reactions to them.

By learning to let go, we open up to endless possibilities and trust that everything is unfolding in exactly the way it is meant to.  There is a bigger plan for us than we can comprehend, but as long as we are open, we can be ready for wherever the wave takes us :)

A Passionate Life

How many people live their life never following their true passions, or even stopping to consider what it is they really love?

We grow up conditioned to accept a life of mediocrity, to believe that we do not have the right to be great…and to shine.

And then? Life slips by so swiftly and before we know it, it is too late.

It is not meant to be this way. We all have unique gifts and talents that, when tapped into, create unlimited potential.  When we learn where our true passions lie, our lives can become miraculous.

We all have a choice and it’s up to us whether to take it. We can choose to live in the matrix, asleep and blind to possibilities, or we can choose a life less ordinary, a passionate life.

So take a step back from your busy life, and consider what it is that you truly love.  What makes you, happy, excited, smile?  What makes your heart race?

Are you living your life’s purpose?

Understanding each other…

As I’ve grown older, and through my experiences, I’ve learned that when dealing with people,  if you can try to put yourself in their shoes, to imagine what they could be feeling or going through, life becomes simpler.

Of course, we can’t possibly understand other people completely.  Most of us barely understand ourselves!  But we can at least try to keep an open mind and realise that it’s not always about us.

Everyone has their own reasons for doing things the way they do.  Live and let live and the world becomes a better place :)

Our World

I feel like an observer of the current state of our world, and the global crisis that is progressing daily.

It’s not that I’m not affected by the issues.  I am, and very significantly.  Yet, I am also fascinated by the shift that is occuring.

When you clean out a room or a cupboard, what usually happens?

You create a bigger mess to start with, while you work out what’s important and also what you need to get rid of.  Sometimes you find things that you didn’t even realise you had.

Our world is so much wiser than we could ever imagine.  It has lived through so many significant events, and the next few years (or more) of this global recession are like a few milliseconds in relation to the history of the planet.

Perhaps the world is just having a bit of a clear out?  Sorting out all the old rubbish and simplifying our lives. Finding things that we had forgotten about – like maybe the joy of spending time with family and friends, without having to spend money? It may seem like a big mess at the moment, but once it’s finished, it will be beautifully clear and simplified.

(until we mess it up again!)

Hello world!

I haven’t completely got to grips with this ‘blogging’ phenomenon that is sweeping the world, but as everyone who’s anyone seems to have one, I thought I’d give it a go.

Whether or not I have anything to say that is worth reading remains to be seen!

So, welcome to my world :)
